HeartSaver Pediatrics

HeartSaver Pediatrics: First Aid, CPR, AED for Daycare Personnel is a training program designed for individuals who work with children in daycare settings. This course provides essential knowledge and skills to help daycare staff respond to emergencies, particularly those involving infants, children, and adolescents. The training typically includes:

•  General Principles: How to assess an emergency, identify the need for first aid, and perform necessary interventions until professional help arrives.
• Medical Emergencies: Handling allergic reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis), asthma attacks, seizures, poisoning, and other common pediatric issues.
• Injury Emergencies: How to respond to bleeding, fractures, head injuries, burns, and choking incidents.
• Environmental Emergencies: Awareness of how to handle temperature-related emergencies like hypothermia, heat exhaustion, and bites or stings.

•  Infant CPR (under 1 year): Proper technique for chest compressions and rescue breathing tailored to infants.
• Child CPR (1 year to puberty): Techniques adapted for young children, focusing on chest compressions, breathing, and airway management.
• Adult CPR: Training may also include how to perform CPR on adults in case of emergencies involving daycare staff or parents.

• Pediatric AED Use: Safe and effective use of an AED on infants and children.
• Adult AED Use: Understanding when and how to use an AED on adults.
• Hands-On Practice: Trainees typically practice using an AED trainer to build confidence and proficiency.
